Birmingham International Airport is the 6th busiest airport in Britain because of the number of passengers passing through its hall each year. The airport services approximately 10 million travellers per annum wishing to fly to destinations around the world, from North America to the Middle East and India. The airport is located roughly 10 kilometres from the centre of Birmingham city which lies in the county of the West Midlands in the heart of England. Originally built in 1939, the airport has rapidly grown and expanded with numerous refurbishments to offer commercial passengers good services such as shops and cafes. Birmingham itself is a fascinating city steeped in history dating back to the 6th century when it was a humble Anglo-Saxon farming hamlet. Today it is a great business, commercial and cultural centre in the West of the UK that is highly regarded around the country and has an international reputation.

Dundee Airport
Dundee Airport is located alongside the River Tay, just 3 kilometres from the city of Dundee. Although it handles under 100,000 passengers per year, Dundee Airport is one of the most important airports in the region. The airport helps link together various destinations and locations, offering easy access to centres within east and central Scotland. It also services plenty of tourists visiting the area. Originally opened in 1963, the airport had just a relatively short grass runway but since then the whole airport and terminal have been expanded to deal with more passengers. In December 2007, the airport was handed over to HIAL – Highlands and Islands Airports Limited – who now operate and manage the airport.

Parking Facilities in and around Dundee Airport
Given the small size of the airport, the parking facilities at Dundee are fairly low key. The parking is, however, adequate and conveniently located. The one main car park is situated right outside the terminal entrance. Parking is completely free of charge making it ideal for any passengers whether hoping to park on a short or long term basis or just wishing to drop off and pick up flying passengers.

Airport Distance from Dundee Town and other Notable Surrounding Locations
Although Dundee Airport handles relatively few passengers each year and has limited services, its location is highly convenient and advantageous. The airport lies right in the heart of Scotland where many places of interest can be found. In particular, numerous famous golf courses such as St Andrews and Gleneagles – well known around the world – are close by to the airport. The airport is also about 7 kilometres west of the city centre of Dundee and many smaller towns such as Glenrothes and Perth are similarly nearby. The airport lies directly next to the River Tay which is renowned for its fishing, especially salmon and trout.
