Barcelona
The capital of the Spanish region of Catalonia, Barcelona has something for everyone; nestled perfectly between golden, sun-kissed, Mediterranean beaches and the all-encompassing hills of Montjuic. This vibrant city is home to a seemingly endless number of bars, restaurants, cafes and clubs and is a proverbial beehive for fashion, art and cuisine. Perhaps the best way to describe Barcelona is diverse, with so many different nationalities, cultures and languages all finding a home in this truly magical city.
Palma
Palma is both the capital city of the Balearic Islands and the major city and port of the island of Majorca. The city was founded as a Roman camp but is now home to a huge tourist industry, which unlike some areas of Majorca, caters to those who enjoy the more extravagant side of life. This is apparent when visiting one of the cities chic boutique hotels and gourmet restaurants which sit in some of the lovingly restored and preserved medieval buildings. As well as the grand centre, visitors can also explore the north coast; home to picturesque mountain ranges as well as the exquisite cathedral and ‘Palace of Almudaina’. The coast of Palma is also home to geographical marvels including exotic beaches and fierce cliffs.
Dusseldorf
This truly wonderful German city is situated on the banks of the immense Rhine River. Once in Dusseldorf, one does not have to travel far as everything seems so close together. The ‘Oudstad ‘ or old quarter of the city sits happily by the modern hub, full of stylish shops. For those who like to taste authentic German beer there is no better place to visit; with a never-ending supply of quaint pubs, many of which brew their own beverages. As a perfect accompaniment to a few drops of traditional German beer why not take a walk along the promenade besides the meandering Rhine River.
Ibiza
This island, located 80 km off the coast of Spain, is predominately famous for its vibrant nightlife. The stunning beaches are the perfect place to relax and sun-bathe after a long night. However the numerous bars and clubs on the island are only one attraction and some visitors may choice to explore the traditional, rural side of the island. Indeed, in order to protect it’s rustic charm much of the island is registered as a World Heritage Site, which prohibits the development of commercial attractions.
Fuerteventura
Positioned off the coast of Africa this Spanish island is a tropical paradise with summer temperatures often reaching 35°C. Fuerteventura is one of the Canary Islands, the North of which consists of golden sand dunes, whilst the South is home to vast beaches and isolated bays. As strong winds are common on many of the islands beeches, watersports are a popular tourist past-time. Particularly abundant are wind-surfing and surfing. A great advantage of this island is that it is relatively undiscovered, offering a sanctuary from the mass tourism associated with many other beach resorts.
Malaga
Boasting a rich tapestry of culture, Malaga is a treat for any would-be tourist. With a temperate climate and stunning mountain scenery this Spanish island provides a feast for the eyes. Many of the attractions owe much to its varied history, for example the Archeological Museum shows the heritage left by the various rulers of this small haven. There is also the opportunity to visit the birthplace of perhaps the most famous artist of all time; Picasso.
Alicante
This beautiful port is one of the fastest-growing cities in Spain, with a thriving local economy that owes much to the beaches of the Costa Blanca coast. This gorgeous coastline stretches for several miles and is a popular destination for sun-worshippers all over Europe. The city is famous for its fantastic weather but is also full of history and is packed with historical buildings including cathedrals and churches. However, perhaps Alicante’s most notable historic feature is the main castle; the Castle of Santa Bárbara, which dates from the 9th century.
